Model prefix: ZZ5707S (Howo Mining King series, 6×4 wheel-reduction axles, dedicated mining vehicles)Key factors affecting vehicle speed: rear axle gear ratio. Two factory options available: 10.47 (standard ratio) / 8.51 (high-speed optional ratio)
Engine: WD615.47, 371 hp, rated speed 2200 rpm
Transmission: HW19710 (10 forward gears + 2 reverse gears), HW21712 12-speed gearbox optional
✅ Standard gear ratio 10.47: Officially rated maximum speed 50 km/h (ECU electronic speed limiter locked at factory). Even on flat ground with empty load, the vehicle cuts off fuel supply once reaching this speed for protection.
✅ Optional low gear ratio 8.51 (customer option): Theoretical empty-load limit 57 km/h. The nameplate still marks 50 km/h. Although the mechanical upper limit is higher, most vehicles retain ECU limit of 50 km/h. Only older models without electronic speed limiting can approach 57 km/h.
Rated payload: 50 tons, gross vehicle weight 70 tons
D12.42, 11.596L displacement, 420 hp
Gear ratio 10.47: Max speed 46 km/h
Gear ratio 8.51: Theoretical empty-load speed 57 km/h
This version delivers higher torque for heavy-load climbing. The standard-ratio variant has a lower top speed and is suitable for mines with steep slopes.
Classified as off-road mobile machinery, not permitted on national highways, provincial roads or urban public roads. No highway license plates.
Tires: 14.00-24 /14.00R25 heavy-duty mining tires, wheel-reduction axles, ultra-high chassis, ground clearance 340 mm.
Designed for heavy payloads, climbing and impact resistance. Not built for high speed, so factory speed limit is conservative.
Max speed 80~85 km/h, road-going vehicle. Not suitable for heavy open-pit mining operations.
Flat main haulage road: ≤30 km/h (mandatory mine safety rule)
Curves, intersections, working faces, waste dumps: ≤10~15 km/h
Heavy load downhill: 5~15 km/h, coasting in neutral is prohibited
Even if the truck can reach 50 km/h, sustained speeds above 40 km/h are forbidden at mines. Braking distance is extremely long; with gross weight close to 100 tons, braking failure and rollover risks rise sharply.
Electronic speed limiting: ECU programming is locked on new trucks. Even if you change the rear axle gear ratio, many vehicles remain capped at 50 km/h by software. Removing the speed limiter by flashing ECU is against regulations. Mine safety inspections will impose penalties. This modification greatly increases risks of tire blowout, brake failure and rollover.
Payload impact: Under full load, the actual maximum speed on flat ground will be 3~6 km/h lower than the empty-load mechanical limit.
Gradeability: Mining King maximum gradeability 42%. Top speed is sacrificed to achieve high torque, this is the design philosophy of mining trucks.
