HOWO "mining trucks / mining dump trucks / wide-body mining trucks" are completely different from highway tractors: Highway HOWO T7H claims "1 million km, 1.5 million km without major overhaul" under highway standard-load conditions; mining trucks are measured by operating hours and working conditions, not simply by comparing mileage.
In mines, speeds are low, loads are heavy, and roads are rough. Mileage accumulates slowly but wear and tear are extremely fast. Normal levels:
Engine / powertrain without major overhaul: 15,000–30,000 km is considered very normal (equivalent to approximately 8,000–15,000 operating hours, depending on the model and maintenance)
Entire vehicle frame, axles, and hydraulic system not entering the workshop for major overhaul: 3–5 years / 20,000–40,000 km is considered quite good
According to Sinotruk training materials, maintenance intervals for mining engineering vehicles are calculated as 25,000 km or 5 months, indicating that mining trucks are not built for the 100,000 km rhythm of highway trucks.
HOWO T7H / TX highway tractors:
MC11 engine B10 life: 1.5 million km
User cases exist of 1 million km without major overhaul under highway standard-load conditions.
However, this refers to conditions like "Jinan–Guangzhou general cargo delivery" or "trunk line drop-and-hook transport," not loading up with rocks and climbing hills on gravel mine roads.
Mine short-haul, sand/gravel mine, coal yard shuttle: No engine major overhaul within 20,000 km = normal
Standard maintenance + no long-term overloading + good road surface: 30,000–50,000 km without engine major overhaul = excellent
Engine not being opened for repair at 80,000–100,000 km = either very light working conditions (coal flatbed short-haul), or extremely high maintenance and driver skill level; this is not the universal standard for mining trucks
Frame not cracked, lift cylinder not leaking, axle housing not broken: Over 3 years is considered durable
Avoid long-term overloading (mining trucks fear 20%+ overload the most)
Change air filters frequently (mine dust kills engines)
Use original manufacturer-specified engine oil / fuel filters, perform station maintenance on time
Use auxiliary braking when going downhill; don't ride the brakes or force through in gear
Don't let loading hit the cargo box, don't lift the bed abruptly, don't charge into ditches with a full load
In short: 1 million km without major overhaul is a selling point for HOWO highway heavy trucks; for HOWO mining trucks, being able to run 20,000–30,000 km without touching the engine, and 3–5 years without major overhaul, is already considered a good, above-average truck in mining conditions.
